Working closely with the Catholic Mission in Tangulbei, Children First support their nursery and primary school, St. Luke’s Kasitet.

Given the vastness of the area, children have to walk long distances to and from school each day. Very often families don’t have enough money to send all of their children to school so only one or two will get educated, whilst others help with the family’s livestock (goats) or just stay at home.

Despite it being prohibited since 2011, FGM cases are still happening; girls also need protection from child-bride marriages which also happen more often in rural areas and poorer families.

The Mission also provides medical care to the villages in East Pokot, especially expectant mothers, via Mission’s clinic and their mobile clinics through which they are able to expand their reach and help more people in remote areas.
