Children First Kenya is a non-profit organisation focusing its work predominantly in parts of Kenya inhabited by the Pokot tribe.
Prevalent inter-tribal conflicts result in communities being deprived of the most basic rights, i.e. access to education and medical care.
Very often families don’t have enough money to send all of their children to school and therefore only one or two get educated, whilst others help with the family’s livestock or just stay at home at risk of forced marriage. That is where we want to help.
Our top priority is to make education accessible to every child and fight for gender equality. We believe that this is pivotal to ending child marriage and practice of FGM, and in turn to building a fair and bright future for everyone.

“In 2009 I went to Kenya for the first time. Since then, I have spent a lot of time over there getting to know communities and individuals and learning about their culture. I have witnessed first-hand how harsh life can be, especially for women and children. I am convinced that education is the answer to ending child marriage and FGM, and that by working together we can remove barriers which stop children from going to school. I love my work and people I meet – but there’s a lot more that can be done, so let’s do it together.”

“I have been following the work of Children First Kenya for many years and have been to Kenya several times. Strongly inspired by the dedication and determination of Liliana, the Founder, and passionate about social and environmental justice myself, I joined the charity to put my knowledge and skills to work toward Children First Kenya’s vision. In my day job, I work on socio-economic issues for a UK-based housing association and have a background in business, marketing, and community development.”
Together we can ensure more children can go to school
